Buffalo Bills named landing spot for former New York Jets receiver

The Buffalo Bills had a quiet offseason compared to the New York Jets.

While the Jets had more areas to improve, the Bills lost some key players.

However, with Josh Allen leading the offense, they need to feel confident to win games. If their average to below average front office can be serviceable, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them win the division.

The loss of Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis raises some questions.

Diggs, considered one of the best in football, takes away Allen’s best weapon. Davis, who has impressed at times, would also have been a big help to Buffalo’s offense.

There is still room for a trade or late free agency signing, which they could consider doing in order to compete with New York and the Miami Dolphins. They’ve led the division in recent years, but that might not be the case this season if they didn’t.

Looking at the NFL free agents with the biggest potential, Bleacher Report’s Alex Ballentine listed former Jets wide receiver Corey Davis.

Davis, who walked away from football last August in a surprise decision, has requested reinstatement by the league and is looking for a home.

The No. 7 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft has struggled to find his footing for much of his career. In New York, he posted 492 yards and 536 yards over two seasons.

At just 29 years old, he might be able to pull it off.

“The potential is still there for Davis to be a functional weapon in the right offense. He never lived up to his ranking as the No. 5 pick in the 2017 draft, but he has become a sufficient vertical threat good to be a second or third option,” Ballentine wrote.

The Bills come into play as Ballentine has them listed as a potential landing spot. Its reason is due to the lack of weapons.

Playing with Allen could also benefit him, as he would be playing with the most talented quarterback he has ever played with.

This would be a risk for Buffalo, but one that could benefit them if he shows a little of what his potential indicates he can be.

“The Bills are another team that should be willing to take a look. After losing Gabe Davis and Stefon Diggs, they drafted Keon Coleman, but they have a relatively smaller group of receivers aside from the rookie ” Ballentine wrote.
