Reese Witherspoon says she and Beyoncé are best friends after the champagne incident

It seems Reese Witherspoon and Beyoncé are the newest Hollywood BFF duo to keep an eye on. At least according to the 43-year-old actress.

Witherspoon recently appeared on an episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show and discussed her encounter at the Golden Globes with Beyoncé and Jay-Z. (ICYMI: The BLL The star “borrowed” a glass of champagne and a few days later received a whole case of champagne from the famous couple.)

When DeGeneres asked about the incident, Witherspoon explained that she and Jennifer Aniston ran out of water and decided on the next best thing. “We’re running out of water at our table,” she said. “I was thirsty and so was (Jennifer) Aniston, who was sitting next to me, and I thought, well, Jay-Z seems to have a huge bottle of champagne.”

So Witherspoon tapped Jay-Z on the shoulder and asked for a drink. “I said, ‘Sorry, Jay-Z…’ And he said, ‘Yeah, would you like some champagne?'” she added. “And I thought, ‘Yeah, I do.’ Because obviously he brings the good with him.”

The Little fires everywhere Star confirmed she then received a case of champagne from the famous couple, followed by a huge orange box filled with the Ivy Park Adidas collection. When DeGeneres joked that she received the same gifts, Witherspoon explained that she is very close with Beyoncé.

“No, no, no, she sent me clothes and then I thought, ‘I think Ellen might like these,'” she joked. “Then she sent it to you because Beyoncé and I are really good friends. I mean, really, really, really good friends. And I mean, you could actually say best friends. Some may say so.”
