Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Deputy Killed in Off-Duty Accident | News

The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office identified one of the two people killed in a crash in Florence as Deputy David Terry.

It happened just before 4 p.m. at Sweetwater Avenue and Florence Boulevard.

According to Sheriff Joe Hamilton, Deputy Terry was 26 years old and most recently served as chief of corrections.

Hamilton said Terry recently filed his retirement papers and will retire in July.

He leaves behind a loving wife and three children.

According to Florence police, a person in the other car involved was also killed.

The cause is still being investigated.
