Chicago police cite pickup truck driver after 4-year-old boy struck, killed: authorities – NBC Chicago

The driver of a pickup truck was cited for failure to yield the right of way after hitting and killing a 4-year-old boy in Chicago’s Grand Crossing neighborhood on Sunday night, authorities said.

The incident was reported around 5:24 p.m. in the 8100 block of South Harper, according to Chicago police. A westbound pickup truck attempted to turn north when it struck a four-year-old boy.

The boy was taken to Como Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Chicago Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Division conducted an investigation Sunday evening.
