Tracking the heat and the chance of isolated rain/storms this weekend

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Get ready for a hot and humid Memorial Day weekend. Afternoon temperatures will continue to hover around 90 degrees through early next week. Lows will be in the 60s to 70s, giving way to mild nights. Rain chances are higher this weekend, with scattered to isolated rain on Friday, Saturday and Monday, with sudden thunderstorms possible on Sunday.

The heat continues to increase today. Outside temperatures will be between 15 and 21 degrees with clear skies. Maximum temperatures will reach almost 32 degrees with partly to mostly sunny skies. There will be scattered to isolated rain and thunderstorms will become more frequent, with some thunderstorms having severe impacts. Lows will be back at 21 degrees, with isolated showers in the region.

The summery outlook will continue through Saturday and Sunday. Afternoon highs will be between 30 and 35 degrees Celsius with mostly to partly sunny skies. Scattered rain and thunderstorms are possible on Saturday, with some strong storms also possible. Meanwhile, scattered, sudden showers are possible again during the hottest part of the day on Sunday. Pretty typical of what we see during a typical summer pattern. Overnight lows will be between 15 and 21 degrees Celsius.

Right now, it looks like the best Memorial Day forecast will be rain and a few thunderstorms. A front will develop and move into the area, bringing scattered showers and thunderstorms. Will it be a rainy day? No. Will there be rain and thunderstorms? Yes.
