James Island fire chief arrested for drunk driving on Isle of Palms Connector, police say

ISLE OF PALMS, SC (WCBD) – James Island Fire Chief Thomas Glick was arrested late Wednesday night for driving under the influence, police said.

According to an Isle of Palms Police Department officer, Glick was pulled over on the Isle of Palms Connector around 10 p.m. and had a .11 breathalyzer test result.


The fire chief was booked into the Charleston County Detention Center just after 1 a.m. on a charge of DUI/driving under the influence but less than .16, a first offense, according to jail records.

Glick, 63, was promoted to fire chief in August 2022 and has served the James Island community for more than 43 years, according to the James Island Public Service District Fire Department.
