Kazakhstan suspends Digital Bridge 2024 forum

ASTANA – Following the directive of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to suspend large-scale events due to severe flooding in Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry announced the cancellation of the international IT forum Digital Bridge 2024, scheduled for September. 5-7 in Astana, the ministry’s press service reported.

This year’s spring floods were the largest natural disaster in Kazakhstan in 80 years. In order to save financial resources for repairing the enormous damage and supporting the affected citizens, President Tokayev ordered the government to cancel planned image-building and other major events.

Since its inception in 2018, Digital Bridge has become the largest platform in Central Asia for discussing the latest IT industry trends and perspectives. The forum, which was scheduled to take place for the sixth time this year, was also canceled in 2020 due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.

The organizers of the event – the Ministry and the Astana Hub International Technopark of IT Startups – thanked everyone who was interested in participating in the forum. Under favorable circumstances, Digital Bridge will resume operations in 2025.
