SALISBURY – An 11-year-old suffered serious injuries in a boating accident on High Rock Lake Sunday, but is reportedly doing well after three surgeries.

According to a GoFundMe page set up by a close family friend, Lincoln Crews’ left side of body suffered severe wounds that required “extensive surgery” as well as rehabilitation treatment to begin the healing process.

The crew members reportedly sustained injuries after falling from a boat.

According to GoFundMe organizer Lorrel Hyde, the injury will require long hospital stays and an extended stay in rehab.

Crews’ first surgery was on Sunday and lasted nine hours. He had his second surgery on Monday. According to an update from Hyde on Tuesday, “Lincoln is taking this one step at a time and doing great!” Surgery is also scheduled for today and tomorrow. Please continue to pray for the avoidance of infection as this is a priority due to the lake water. Spread the word about Gofundme as it is the best way to help this family during this time. Once things calm down a bit, I’m sure other forms of help will be more realistic. Right now, everyone is on autopilot.”

Hyde remains optimistic that Crews’ positive attitude and love for life will help him get through.

“I had the pleasure of knowing Lincoln his entire life,” organizer Hyde said in the GoFundMe post. “He’s a beast on the field, a monster on the pitch. He is constantly moving, dancing, singing, wiggling, or anything. He has the kindest heart and the most beautiful smile. He gives the best hugs and is always ready to make you laugh.”

Nevertheless, Hyde acknowledged that the family now faces significant financial burdens.

“Currently, Annette and Derrick have rented an Airbnb near the hospital,” Hyde said. “Between these costs, meals, gas, lost work time, hospital bills and future therapy, I know they would appreciate any additional help they can get.

“Derrick and Annette are amazing people and I know they are loved by so many. This GoFundMe will be linked directly to their account so they can benefit from the support.”
