A murder in Slatington is under investigation and more information is expected to be released later on Friday.

Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio said in a news release Thursday that 37-year-old David Hittinger was pronounced dead in the county Wednesday evening. He declined to disclose the location in the county where Hittinger died.

The murder is being investigated by the Pennsylvania State Police and the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office. The DA’s office is expected to share information during a news conference scheduled for noon in Allentown.

Trooper Nathan Branosky, a state police spokesman, said Thursday the investigation is ongoing and there would be no further comment at this time.

While officials did not disclose where Hittinger died, investigators were seen Thursday combing the area near the Delaware & Lehigh Trailhead in Slatington. The county’s police chief, Greg Winokur, posted on the department’s Facebook page that an investigation is ongoing and there is no threat to the community.

As of Friday morning, no murder charges had been filed in Slatington District Court.
