Shooting in Oklahoma City ends with one dead and one incarcerated

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Nikki Lippold was watching television around 10 p.m. Sunday night when she noticed police lights flashing outside her window.

She lives on S. Lindsay Ave., near SE 62nd St. and S Shields Blvd.

“It was a madhouse. There were probably half a dozen, at least half a dozen police cars here,” Lippold said. “I came out to see what was going on and some neighbors were outside.”

She quickly learned that a murder investigation was underway just a few houses up the street.

According to OKCPD, Gary Westrick was visiting Tony Servantes and a woman who also lives there.

“All three knew each other and were spending the evening together when, for some reason, one of them became angry, pulled out a firearm and shot the other,” said Mgst. Gary Knight of OKCPD.

Westrick died at the scene of the accident. He was 33 years old.

This is the fourth murder in Oklahoma City in the last week alone.

“I’ve been here for almost 30 years now and it’s a really quiet area,” Lippold said. “We were a little upset about it.”

Servantes was arrested and booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center. He is charged with first-degree murder.

It is not clear what exactly triggered the shots.

Police said the investigation is still early. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Homicide Unit at (405) 297-1200.
