Teen arrested after person found shot to death in vehicle in downtown Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A 17-year-old is charged with open murder after a person was found shot to death in a vehicle in the central Las Vegas Valley.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, around 4 a.m. on Monday, May 6, a man called 911 and said his 17-year-old son had shot his friend at an unknown location.


Officers went to the man’s home and learned the shooting occurred in the 1600 block of East St. Louis Avenue, near East Sahara Avenue and South Maryland Parkway.

Officers searched the area and found the victim in a vehicle with a gunshot wound. Medical staff confirmed the victim’s death at the scene.

LVMPD officers learned that the 17-year-old suspect intentionally shot the victim, arrested him and sent him to the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center on a charge of open murder.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Jazlynn Johnson, 18.
