Dirt bike racer posts shocking photos after losing feeling in her legs following horror crash

Taylor Peet, a Gold Coast motocross racer and current fashion label owner, has released shocking photos following her accident that left her paralyzed from the chest down.

Peet, owner of clothing label Throttle Girls and founder of motorcycle group Girls Can Ride, was riding in the Lockyer Valley west of Brisbane when she fell while landing after jumping from her bike on June 29.

She suffered broken ribs, a ruptured right lung, broken wrists, and severe spinal cord damage that left her with no feeling from her upper body down.

Peet was flown by helicopter to a hospital in Brisbane and later underwent spinal surgery.

“We headed out to build some ramps to practice my jumping as that has been a big focus and goal of mine this year,” she posted on Instagram.

“It wasn’t long ago when I made the jump. I didn’t know that the next jump would change my life.

“The way I landed on the down ramp threw me over the handlebars and the rest is now my reality.”

The owner of a fashion label posted a photo showing herself being flown to the hospital by helicopter on “the day that changed my life.”

Peet later described her injuries and the shock she felt when she woke up in the hospital with breathing tubes in her throat.

“The last week has been the most mentally and physically demanding time of my life, but if there’s one thing I’ve learned here, it’s to never doubt why you ride your bike,” she wrote.

“Falling can be scary, but the lifestyle and love of the sport is why we do it.”

“I have created the best lifestyle and memories on two wheels. More than off the bike. And finally, a great reminder that life has challenges for those who can overcome them.”

Peet thanked all the people who were by her side, including the doctors, nurses and emergency workers.

“Until now, I really didn’t realize how big the community behind me is,” she wrote.

Pete said the support she has received has been incredible, with a GoFundMe campaign to fund her treatment raising a huge amount.

“The amount of positive messages and support I have received from all of you has been amazing.”

A GoFundMe page was set up to raise money for Peet’s recovery from the accident, and it has At the time of this writing, more than $50,000 has been raised.
