Pocahontas County man arrested for hate crime, threatening to shoot police

HILLSBORO, W.Va (WDTV) – A Pocahontas County man was arrested Sunday and charged with a hate crime.

Roy Walker, 58, of Hillsboro, is accused of harassing his neighbors with racial slurs and vulgar language and threatening to shoot police officers, according to the West Virginia State Police.

Police responded to a home in the Hillsboro area of ​​Pocahontas County after Walker’s neighbors said they feared for her safety. Walker threatened the family, used a variety of profanities and said, “You’re going to get what you deserve.” The woman told police Walker continued to use the “N-word” against her and her family.

When police attempted to speak with Walker, police said he was extremely drunk and belligerent. After telling him to go home and stop using racial slurs and loud, violent language, officers returned to their patrol cars and Walker yelled, “I’m going to shoot all of you fucking cops!”

He also said, “Step on my property and you’re dead, n——,” and police assumed these statements were directed at her.

Walker was arrested and charged with two counts of threatening to commit terroristic acts and one count of violating a person’s civil rights, which is a hate crime. He is currently being held at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail with bail set at $20,000.
