Yemen’s Houthis claim responsibility for attack on key target in Israel’s Haifa

Cairo:

The Yemeni Houthis said on Tuesday that they had carried out a joint military operation with the Islamic resistance movement in Iraq and attacked a key target in Haifa, Israel.

The military operation was carried out with “a series of cruise missiles,” Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said in a televised statement, without naming the target attacked.

The Houthi group has been carrying out drone and missile attacks on shipping routes since November, allegedly in solidarity with the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

The Houthis, allied with Iran, launched their first drone and missile attacks on shipping lanes in November. In dozens of attacks, they sank two ships, hijacked another and killed at least three sailors.
