Man dies Tuesday afternoon after accident in St. Helena Parish

ST. HELENA PARISH, Louisiana (BRPROUD) – Louisiana State Police are investigating a fatal crash Tuesday afternoon in St. Helena Parish.

According to a police news release, state police officers were called to a one-car crash on Louisiana Highway 38 near Louisiana Highway 441 in St. Helena Parish around 12:30 p.m.


During the investigation, officers determined that a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 80-year-old Billy Hebert of Greensburg, was traveling west on Louisiana Highway 38 before Hebert left the road and struck a tree.

Hebert was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

A toxicology sample was taken from Hebert.

The state police would like to remind drivers and passengers that seat belts are mandatory under state law.
