PSP: Murder in Franklin Co. under investigation

According to the Pennsylvania State Police, troopers were dispatched to Greene Township in Franklin County to investigate a report of shots fired.

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Pennsylvania – Police in Franklin County are investigating a homicide that occurred Saturday.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police, Chambersburg police officers were dispatched to the 3700 block of Mountain Shadow Drive in Greene Township for a report of shots fired on June 22.

When police arrived, they spotted a red van in the middle of the road with a single person sitting in the driver’s seat. The person was reportedly suffering from an unknown injury and emergency responders were called to the scene to provide assistance.

A short time later, 30-year-old Anthony Jalil Henderson and two underage women left the house after officers began setting up a cordon.

Officers learned that the victim, identified as Lance Mitchell Riely, 33 of Saint Thomas, suffered a gunshot wound and was later pronounced dead as a result of his injuries.

The Major Case Team of Troop H subsequently took over the murder investigation and identified Henderson as the perpetrator of the shooting.

During the investigation, police said it became clear that there had been a verbal argument between Henderson and Riely before the shooting.

Henderson was charged with first- and third-degree murder, as well as various weapons and drug offenses.

Police also stated that there is no danger to the public as a result of this incident and asked anyone with information to contact the Chambersburg Station at 717-264-5161.
