13 motorcyclists arrested after chase in Temecula: authorities

The motorcyclists blocked other motorists, ignored a traffic light and tried to flee from police in Temecula, authorities said.

TEMECULA, CALIFORNIA — Authorities say more than a dozen motorcyclists were arrested in Temecula after blocking other drivers, ignoring a traffic light and attempting to flee from police.

The incident occurred around 1 p.m. Saturday when Riverside County officials saw the large group blocking traffic in the area of ​​Rancho California and Diaz roads and ignoring a red light while merging onto southbound Interstate 15, police said.

Officers attempted to stop the group, but the motorcyclists sped up and eventually followed police commands onto the shoulder of the interstate north of Rainbow Valley Boulevard, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office. Two lanes were closed for traffic control, and due to the number of motorcyclists, other state and local agencies assisted, authorities said.

According to police, 13 people were arrested and taken to the county jail on suspicion of various crimes, including:

  • Travis McQueen, 36, of Bakersfield, for escape;
  • William Brucker, 36, of Bakersfield, for escape;
  • Paul Mayugba, 49, of Stockton, for eluding;
  • Joseph Fonseca, 48, of Hanford, for escape;
  • Alexander Patterson, 30, of Taft, for escape;
  • Frank Pedrones, 30, of Stockton, for escape;
  • Lewis Forester, 40, of Stockton, for possession of a weapon;
  • Zachary Lancaster, 32, of Bakersfield, for possession of a weapon;
  • William Crosby III, 30, of Las Vegas, for possession of tear gas;
  • Yater Felps McGill, 33, of Las Vegas, for possession of tear gas;
  • Dayton Martinez, 28, of Vista, for possession of a dagger;
  • Jesse Williamson, 42, of Cedar City, Utah, for possession of a loaded weapon as a felon;
  • Christian Pizarro, 24, of Bonita, for reckless driving and an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.
