Brevard County men shoot couple and children in road rage incident

MIMS, Florida. — Two Brevard County men are facing charges after shooting people in anger across the street in Mims Saturday night, News4JAX sister station WKMG reported.

According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to the shooting in Mims on Saturday around 6:45 p.m. A couple reported that they were traveling east on State Road 46 in their GMC Yukon XL when a black Dodge pickup truck began to tailgate them. The truck “eventually passed them, forced them halfway off the road, cut them off and stopped in front of them.”

Two men got out of the truck and fired several shots at the victim’s vehicle. Officials said the couple had three children in the vehicle at the time of the shooting – ages 6, 4 and 18 months in the back seat.

No one was injured and an independent witness was able to confirm details of the shooting. Officers counted nine bullet holes in the SUV. The passenger window was also shattered. A social media post from the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office shows the vehicle riddled with bullet holes.

After firing several shots, the suspects got back into their pickup truck and left the scene. The victims called 911 and then followed them at a distance. Officers from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office located the suspects and conducted a felony traffic stop.

Officers arrested the driver, 45-year-old Chad Morrow of Cocoa, and the passenger, 52-year-old Chad McAninch of Port St. John.

Both men were booked into the Brevard County Jail and charged with two counts of attempted murder and three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
