A Rio Rancho man was arrested and is now in prison for allegedly attempting to murder his son.

RIO RANCHO, NM – A Rio Rancho man was arrested and is now in jail for allegedly attempting to murder his son.

Vincent Buscema, 59, faces a number of charges, including attempted premeditated murder, aggravated assault, tampering with evidence and child abuse.

Investigators say Buschema sent his son a text message on Sunday afternoon saying: “I’m coming. Now don’t talk so much, big boy. I’m looking for you.”

According to police, Buschema then went to Hooters near Cottonwood Mall to look for his son before going to his son’s Rio Rancho home on Aspen Meadows Drive, where he was allegedly seen yelling and firing a gun.

According to police, Buschema shot both his son and daughter-in-law. Both survived, but Buschema’s son was shot in the chest and stomach and had to be taken to UNM Hospital.

His wife told police that two children were in the house when her father-in-law started shooting.

Buschema denied shooting his son, but was eventually arrested and is now behind bars.
