Fire at Denham Springs High School | 26 May 2024

Livingston Parish – The State Fire Marshal’s Office (SFM) is actively seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect wanted in connection with a fire at Denham Springs High School late last month.

At approximately 2 a.m. on Sunday, May 26, the Denham Springs Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at the high school in the 1000 block of Range Avenue. The fire was contained to English Hall on the west side of campus. Damage is estimated in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Through initial investigation, officers have concluded that the fire was deliberately set and are now looking for a suspect. Based on the evidence available so far, officers believe the suspect entered the campus on a bicycle and rode off toward Robbie Street shortly before the fire department was alerted.

The SFM and Denham Springs Police Department (DSPD) are conducting this joint investigation and are asking anyone with information regarding the identity and whereabouts of this individual to contact the SFM Arson Hotline at 1-844-954-1221 or provide the information through the SFM’s online tip form at lasfm.org. Information may also be submitted directly to DSPD Det. Sterling at 225-326-2704.
