Houston Rockets fans won’t have to wait much longer. Soon, the team will be back in action. The preseason schedule has been officially revealed.

This is a team that hopes to climb the standings in 2024-25. In terms of roster additions, they’re hoping Reed Sheppard can contribute as a rookie, and Steven Adams looks healthy after returning from injury. Above all, they’ll be counting on internal development.

Fortunately, this team is young. Improvement is a reasonable expectation. Coming off a .500 season, the Rockets will have their sights set on the playoffs. Starting October 7, fans will be able to get a glimpse of the progress made by the Rockets’ young players.

This is an interesting series. The Rockets open their season against a Jazz team that appears to be somewhere between rebuilding and contending. We’ll see if Lauri Markkanen is still on the roster come opening night.

The Thunder made some impressive roster moves this summer. Will they try to find some chemistry between Alex Caruso, Isaiah Hartenstein and the rest of their roster in the preseason? Or will they take the opportunity to rest their veterans?

Similar questions can be asked about the Pelicans. They signed Dejounte Murray this summer. Will they use this game to allow him to play with their core?

Most fans will be keeping an eye on that October 17 date. Has Victor Wembanyama defeated Alperen Sengun, or will the young Rockets star still have the prodigy’s number?
