6-month-old US boy dies after husky attacks him in crib

A six-week-old baby was bitten to death by the family dog while sleeping in his crib in Tennessee. Ezra Mansoor was attacked by a seemingly tame husky that had lived with the family for eight years.

Little Ezra succumbed to his injuries on Thursday, six days after the unexpected attack. He was in critical condition in the hospital, suffering from a brain hemorrhage and brain swelling, ABC 7 reported.

Chloe and Mark Mansoor, new parents, are devastated by the loss of their son. “Being his mother was the greatest honor and the best thing I’ve ever done,” Chloe told WVLT.

The attack surprised the family as the dog had no history of aggression. The family had two dogs, but this incident was “completely unprovoked,” Chloe told the outlet.

The couple said they never imagined their child’s safety could be at risk. Chloe said it “could have been any dog at any time, for absolutely no reason, no matter what the history is.”

Amid this tragedy, they hope others can do a better job of protecting their children. “Don’t take anything for granted, even frustrating moments are wonderful. Praying for the whole family. Everyone loved him so much. We are all grieving and this is a lifelong process,” she said.

The Mansoor family have decided to honour baby Ezra’s memory by donating his organs to help other babies in need. Chloe revealed that working to save the lives of others has given them peace during the “heartbreaking grieving process”.

The family dog involved in the attack was taken to a local animal shelter. The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the incident.
