TennCare fraud investigation leads to arrests in Memphis – TBINewsroom.com

MEMPHIS – Two Memphis women are charged with TennCare fraud and theft of property following an investigation by special agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Medicaid Fraud Control Division.

In October 2023, MFCD Special Agents received a fraud tip from Blue Cross Blue Shield’s Special Investigations Unit alleging that a direct-to-consumer caregiver was involved in a fraud scheme with another individual. During the course of the investigation, agents received information that from June through December 2023, Quiana Pruitt billed and was paid for home care services she did not provide. Agents were also able to confirm that Sekia Conner was involved in the scheme.

In June, the Shelby County Grand Jury indicted Quiana Nicole Pruitt (born 8/28/1996) and Sekia Conner (born 2/9/1979) on one count each of TennCare fraud and theft of property between $10,000 and $60,000. Pruitt surrendered to law enforcement on July 1, and Conner was arrested by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office on July 5. Both were held on $25,000 bail.

The charges and allegations contained in this press release are merely allegations of criminal conduct and are not evidence. The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and convicted in a due process of law.
