MBTA Green Line delays due to ‘switch problem’ – NBC Boston

Service was suspended on a portion of the Green Line Tuesday morning due to what the MBTA described as a “switch issue.”

The problem was first reported by the MBTA shortly after 6 a.m. The transit authority said there were delays due to a signaling problem in Arlington and that riders were asked to use the Orange Line for trips downtown. Buses have also been suggested as an alternative.

Around 6:30 a.m., the T said service between Government Center and Arlington had been suspended due to a “switch issue.” An update ten minutes later said traffic remained disrupted between Government Center and Kenmore.

By 7:30 a.m. the situation had improved slightly, with only traffic between Government Center and Copley stopped.

Further details were initially not known.
