Tornado in Leesburg, Virginia’s Loudoun County and Ashburn on alert | Video

On Wednesday, a huge tornado was spotted in Leesburg, Virginia. Residents of the Loudoun County community were warned of severe weather and sirens sounded in the evening. The National Weather Service had previously issued a warning about tornadoes approaching the area.

On Wednesday, a huge tornado was spotted in Leesburg, Virginia. Residents of the community in Loudoun County were warned of a severe storm and the sirens went off in the evening. The National Weather Service had previously issued a warning about tornadoes approaching the area.

The NWS offices in Baltimore and Washington DC warned residents of Leesburg, Ashburn and Purcellville of possible tornadoes approaching the region. At 6:44 p.m. (EDT), a confirmed tornado was located near Leesburg. The weather agency estimated it was moving eastward at 20 mph. Severe weather in the communities was exacerbated by a storm that produced hailstones less than 0.75 inches in size.

Meanwhile, a tornado warning remains in effect until 7 p.m. EDT for west central Montgomery and east central Loudoun counties. The warning could be extended if severe weather remains in the area.
