Elizabeth man convicted of repeatedly sexually assaulting young girls

ELIZABETH, NJ — An Elizabeth man was sentenced to 22 years in prison for repeatedly sexually abusing two young girls over the course of 11 years, Union County District Attorney William A. Daniel announced Monday.

On May 29, Union County Superior Court Judge Candido Rodriguez Jr. sentenced Ahmed Andre, 62, to serve 85 percent of his sentence before he can be released on parole.

On March 5, Andre was found guilty of one count of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, four counts of second-degree sexual assault, two counts of third-degree aggravated criminal sexual assault, two counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual assault.

According to Union County Assistant District Attorney Peter Benza, an investigation revealed that the underage victims were sexually abused by Andre on multiple occasions beginning when they were nine and ten years old.

The investigation, led by Detective Sergeant Joanne Son of the Union County District Attorney’s Special Victims Unit, was initiated following a referral from the Elizabeth Public School District.
