25-year-old man arrested for allegedly throwing bricks through the window of a moving car

A 25-year-old man was arrested this morning after allegedly throwing a brick through the driver’s side window of a 45-year-old woman on Kamehameha Highway in Pearl City near the Waiau Generating Station, according to law enforcement sources.

At 6:48 a.m., the woman was driving east while the suspect was crossing the street. Police received several 911 calls about a man throwing bricks at cars, hitting several of them.

As the victim walked past him, he allegedly threw a brick through the driver’s side window. The brick shattered the window and shards of glass struck the woman’s face, hand and wrist, causing minor injuries.

Honolulu Emergency Medical Services technicians responded and treated the woman for abrasions to her right wrist and bruising on the back of her hand.

She refused to be taken to the emergency room.

The suspect fled on foot but was tracked down by Honolulu Police Department patrol officers and arrested at 7:19 a.m. on suspicion of first-degree criminal damage to property.

The suspect, Isaiah Mersburgh, has been arrested four times for fourth-degree criminal damage, once for abuse of a household member and twice on suspicion of third-degree assault.

According to state court records, he still has court dates pending in an abuse and assault case, as well as applications for temporary restraining orders.
