Man arrested for terrorist threat in district swimming pool

CANUTILLO, Texas (KVIA) – El Paso County Sheriff’s officials arrested and charged a man Thursday for making threats outside an El Paso County swimming pool. El Paso County jail records show 19-year-old Jonathan Dominick Rubio is currently being held in the El Paso County Detention Center on a charge of terroristic threat causing fear of imminent serious bodily harm.

Sheriff’s officers responded to the El Paso County Parks Recreational County Pool at 7351 Bosque Road in Canutillo on Thursday afternoon. According to a news release, officers were told there were people in a vehicle and suspected weapons in the pool.

Three people were arrested and Rubio was arrested and charged. No weapons were found in the vehicle. ABC-7 continues to investigate and has requested the arrest affidavit to learn more about the nature of the alleged threats.

Rubio’s bail is set at $7,500 and his bail hearing is scheduled for Saturday, June 15.
