Man wanted for Cosmo Park shooting in 2023 arrested

COLUMBIA, Missouri (KMIZ)

A man wanted and charged in a September 30 shooting at Cosmo Park has been arrested.

Terron Dawayne Shelton Jr., 24, was charged Oct. 3 with first-degree assault and armed criminal action. He was booked into the Boone County Jail at 4:19 p.m. Tuesday and is being held without bail. An initial court date was scheduled for Wednesday, but his next hearing has not been announced. Shelton’s address is listed on Casenet as Columbia, but prison records list Kansas City.

According to previous reports, police found the victim at the Super 7 Motel on Range Line Street. Officers said the man had a gunshot wound to his arm and the car he was in had multiple bullet holes. Police said they found several bullet casings on the soccer fields at Cosmo Park in October.

According to court documents from previous reports, the victim told police that he knew Shelton as a “fellow student at Lincoln University.” He knew Shelton from previous “altercations.”

Previous reports said a witness identified Shelton to police in October.
