Houston stabbing leaves 1 dead, 1 in custody on Hillcroft Avenue near Bellaire Boulevard, HPD says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Officers responding to a stabbing call in southwest Houston found a person dead, police said Friday evening.

According to Houston Police and Fire, first responders arrived on Hillcroft Avenue near Bellaire Boulevard regarding a reported “cutting.”

The Houston Police Department said someone died at the scene and another person, who may be the suspect, was arrested.

HPD provided no further details while an investigation was ongoing.

The location is located on the edge of Sharpstown and Gulfton neighborhoods.

ABC13 Neighborhood Safety Tracker shows five homicides in the past 12 months in the region, including in the Houston Baptist University area and Maplewood West, home to about 27,000 people.

Seven homicides were recorded in 2020, six in 2021, six in 2022 and three in 2023.
