The motorcade of Mexican President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum suffered an accident on Friday.

The motorcade of Mexican President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum was involved in an accident on Friday, her team said in a statement. One person died and several were injured. The car Sheinbaum was traveling in was not involved in the accident.

Sheinbaum stopped to check on the injured, who her team said were already being cared for by emergency crews following the crash in Monclova, a city in the northern state of Coahuila.

“We deeply regret that a person in the other vehicle died,” the statement said.
