The victim was not identified.

Two weeks ago, the high school listed Hood on social media as the head coach of the girls’ track and field team. The team won the GHSA state championship in track and field this year.

The school district issued a statement saying Hood was no longer employed. It read:

“The Douglas County School System is deeply troubled by recent allegations of sexual misconduct by a former employee of the Douglas County School System. We stand with the victim and his family in deep sadness at this time.

The accused individual is not an employee of our school system. The former coach was arrested and is facing charges by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. We are working closely with law enforcement to ensure a thorough investigation and will continue to cooperate with authorities and provide any assistance necessary to facilitate the investigation.

The alleged incident is a breach of our professional standards and does not reflect the expectations we have of everyone entrusted with the care of our students. We follow strict policies and procedures to prevent and address any form of misconduct or abuse.

Safety is our top priority in the Douglas County School System. We remain fully committed to the well-being of all of our students. As this investigation progresses, we will continue to respect the privacy of those involved.

Thank you for your support and cooperation as we work together to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment for all of our students.”
