Five-year-old girl dies in horror accident after being strangled by swing

A five-year-old girl has died in a horrific tragedy in her backyard when she became entangled and strangled by her swing.

Aurora Masters died Saturday from brain trauma she sustained when she was strangled by the window swing in Fort Collins, Colorado.

“She pulled her little plastic slide over to where her swing was,” her great-aunt Brenda Kennedy told FOX31 last week. “And somehow she got caught in the swing and the swing was strangling her.”

The little girl was taken to Colorado Children’s Hospital and about 20 relatives flew in to see her, the outlet reported. On May 11, it was discovered that the swelling on Aurora’s brain was too severe and would not go away. Her family decided to transfer her to end-of-life care.

Aurora died over the weekend, and Ms. Kennedy posted on a GoFundMe page on Thursday that her niece’s organs had been donated.

“Our sweet Aurora Rae once again demonstrated her ninja bravery and teamed up with the Donor Alliance to complete her gifts,” Ms. Kennedy wrote. “She demonstrates the qualities of a black belt.

“Our hearts are broken and we continue the journey to honor and celebrate their worldly gifts,” she added.

As Ms. Kennedy began the fundraiser, she shared a video of Aurora dressed as a member of the Addams Family and singing the theme song.

“I’ve got gloves on, I can’t snap,” she said as she began singing, referencing the tune’s famous beats.

Aurora’s body was brought home Thursday with the assistance of the Sentinels Motorcycle Club. Memorial services are planned in Fort Collins, but details have not yet been announced.

As of Friday morning, nearly $30,000 had been raised in her memory.
