Folsom CVS manager killed in Fair Oaks shooting: Vitaliy Zaytsev

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office said 41-year-old Vitaliy Zaytsev died Friday.

FAIR OAKS, Calif. – A man who died after a shooting in Fair Oaks on Friday has been identified.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified him as 41-year-old Vitaliy Zaytsev. He was the manager of a CVS in Folsom on Madison Avenue, according to a CVS spokesman.

“Vitaliy was well liked and respected by his colleagues, customers and community and we will miss him greatly. We have provided counseling and support services to his colleagues and are cooperating fully with the police investigation,” a CVS spokesperson told ABC10 in a statement. “Although there is no indication that this incident is related to security measures in our stores, the safety of our colleagues and customers on our store premises is always our top priority.”

The sheriff’s office said officers initially responded to the 4900 block of Hillridge Way for a reported injured and bleeding man just before 11 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found Zaytsev unresponsive and suffering from a severe head injury. He died at the scene of the accident.

Officials said his injury appeared to be the result of a gunshot wound and the shooting was being investigated as a homicide.
