Weekend thunderstorms with lots of heat – 104.5 WOKV

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – First Alert meteorologist Corey Simma is monitoring heat and storms this weekend.

Partly cloudy and hot this afternoon. The sea breeze just passed I-95 at 4 p.m.

Scattered showers are blowing well west and north of Jacksonville. Simma expects storms to concentrate near and west of I-95 later this evening

Some beaches may be affected by showers and storms.

Tomorrow, storms are likely to form a little earlier in the afternoon (and also move away a little earlier).

The same offshore wind/storm pattern will persist until about Wednesday. Then on Thursday the wind will turn onshore, driving the offshore wind further inland each day.

This pattern also brings with it the risk of morning rain on the beaches.

However, the heaviest and strongest storms will be concentrated far inland until next weekend.

There is nothing worth mentioning in the tropics.
