Police investigate theft from Wellsville, Ohio youth baseball league account

WELLSVILLE, Ohio (WKBN) – Wellsville police are investigating allegations of theft at a Little League Baseball organization in the city.

Lt. Marsha Eisenhart said the department received complaints several weeks ago from parents alleging theft of funds from the Wellsville Youth Baseball League.

The league’s bank account was empty, which is unusual because there is always a surplus to start the league the following season, Eisenhart said.

Wellsville police are in the process of obtaining subpoenas for the league’s bank records, and former league officials were replaced at an emergency meeting last week.

Eisenhart said the new league members are bound and will be reviewed under several checks and balances mechanisms.

The investigation is ongoing.
