Las Vegas police: Security guard shot in “fight” with suspected shoplifters

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (FOX5) – A security guard was shot during an altercation with suspected shoplifters in the West Valley, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said.

Police said the shooting occurred around 1 p.m. Saturday in the 800 block of North Decatur Boulevard near Washington Avenue. Arriving officers said they found a man with a gunshot wound in a parking lot.

Police said the suspects fled before officers could arrive.

As investigators discovered, the victim was a security guard and the shooting occurred during an altercation with suspected shoplifters.

“The investigation is ongoing,” police said.
