By Ighomuaye Lucky, Benin

The Edo State gubernatorial candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Pastor Azemhe Azena, has been suspended by the executive committee members of his tenth ward in Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State.

The letter suspending Pastor Azemhe Azena was discovered by journalists in Benin City after it was delivered to the party’s national chairman and received with great approval by the party.

The letter was signed by the party’s 10th Ward Chairman in Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State, Honourable Kadiri Eshimokha, the Secretary, Comrade Imonikho Abdul, the party’s Woman Leader, Mrs Stella Afebua, and the Youth Leader, Comrade Eshiobo Johnson.

The letter outlined the reasons for the suspension of Pastor Azemhe Azena from the NNPP, including gross misconduct, disregard for party plans and anti-party activities.

Copies of the suspension letter were sent to the party’s national chairman, Edo State chairman, Edo North vice chairman and Etsako East local government group leader.

Copies of the suspension letter were also served on the Vice Chairman of the South-South Circuit, the National Chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission (lNEC) and the Edo State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of INEC.

In a swift reaction, the NNPP governorship candidate in Edo State, Pastor Azemhe Azena, described the suspension statement as fake and irrelevant.

He said the official chairman of the NNPP District 10, Etsako East Local Government Chapter, Mr Goddy Lyamah, has since dismissed the allegation as false since the other persons whose names appeared in the suspension letter were not members of the party.
