Woman dies in car accident while fleeing from leopard

Hyderabad: A woman was killed when a car overturned while trying to avoid a leopard in Nizamabad district. The accident occurred on the outskirts of Yellammakunta, police said. The deceased M Lalitha was a resident of Yacharam village in Kamareddy district. Her husband Prabhakar sustained critical injuries and was hospitalized. Several leopard-related accidents have been reported in Nizamabad in the past. In this incident, the car was driven by Prabhakar, who was trying to avoid a collision with the leopard in a forest area. Lalitha died on the spot. “The couple had left to meet their relatives. On their way back, the accident occurred,” police said. Police have registered a case. A leopard was killed in February 2023 when it was hit by an unidentified vehicle on National Highway 44 near Chandrayanapally. In September 2022, a leopard was killed when it was hit by a speeding vehicle on National Highway 44 in the Daggi forest area.
