Brevard County men arrested for attempted murder after rage-fueled shooting

Officers arrested two Brevard County, Florida men accused of shooting at an SUV containing a couple and three children. Volusia County officials assisted Brevard County officials with the investigation. Officers responded to the shooting in the Mims area around 6:45 p.m. Saturday. The victims reported they were traveling east on State Road 46 when a black Dodge pickup truck began to tailgate them. Officers said the pickup truck passed their SUV, forced them halfway off the road, cut them off and stopped in front of them. Two men got out of the truck, fired several shots at the victims’ vehicle and left the scene. The couple had three children, ages 1, 4 and 6, in the back seat of the SUV at the time. Officers discovered nine bullet holes in the vehicle as well as a shattered passenger window. Fortunately, no one was injured. The victims called 911 and followed the truck at a distance as it headed toward Brevard County, where Brevard County officers found it and conducted a felony traffic stop. The suspected shooters, 45-year-old driver Chad Morrow of Cocoa and 52-year-old passenger Chad McAninch of Port St. John, were taken into custody and both charged with two counts of attempted murder and three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The Volusia Sheriff’s Office said it found the gun used in the driving rage shooting. In a Twitter post, they credited the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office with tracking down the weapon.
