Man arrested in Fuengirola after young foreign tourist strangled and raped in Marbella

A 23-year-old man who allegedly raped a tourist in Marbella by strangling her until she lost consciousness has been arrested.

Officers arrested the previously convicted North African suspect at his home in Fuengirola at around 6.30pm on Friday 5 July.

The alleged rape occurred on Thursday, July 4, when the attacker used the “mataleón” technique and strangled a young Hungarian woman, “causing her to lose consciousness,” police said.

After “intensive police work” and thanks to witness statements, investigators were able to locate and arrest the suspected perpetrator within 24 hours of the incident.

The victim, who is now back in his home country, thanked the officials who dealt with the case quickly.
