Warren, Minn. man pleads not guilty to raping 11-year-old – Grand Forks Herald

MARSHALL COUNTY, Minn. – A Warren, Minnesota man waived his omnibus hearing on Tuesday, May 21 and pleaded not guilty to two counts of aggravated sex crimes.

Seth Lawrence Solberg, 37, is charged with two counts of first-degree sexual abuse. The first count involves penetration or abuse of a person under the age of 13, where the perpetrator is more than 36 months older. The second count involves penetration of a mentally disabled or physically helpless victim.

Solberg faces up to 30 years in prison for the crimes.

In November, Polk County Social Services received a report about a 13-year-old who said Solberg raped her about two years ago, according to a probable cause statement filed in the case.

During a forensic interview, the girl said Solberg picked her up and took her to his home. Solberg’s wife had disappeared. After Solberg put his child to bed, he allegedly showed the girl “meth” and injected it into the back of her foot, the statement said.

Solberg is said to have raped the child for six hours. After that, he “started crying, apologized for what had happened and told her not to tell anyone,” the statement said.

That didn’t happen before or after, the girl said. She decided to report it because she knew it was wrong and didn’t want it to happen to anyone else, the report said.

Solberg’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 2 at 9 a.m.
