Kyle Larson talks to Spotter about “Shut Up” and the Denny Hamlin incident

There are no hard feelings between Kyle Larson and his spotter Tyler Monn after the two got into an argument over the radio during the USA TODAY 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Last month, Monn radioed Larson after a collision with Denny Hamlin on the track: “He passes you like that every time, you know why? Because you let him.” Larson didn’t like Monn’s words and immediately told him to shut up. “Shut up,” he replied.

There was a lot of debate afterwards about whether there would continue to be friction between Larson and Monn, but it is clear that the bond between the two was strong enough to overcome the war of words between them.

“Tyler and I get along really well. We have, you know, such a close relationship that we can talk about it afterwards and joke about it,” Larson told FOX’s Bob Pockrass. “So, we were laughing about New Hampshire when I got in the car before we fired up again. We all got along really well there.”

This shows that drivers can say things they don’t really mean in the heat of the moment. Although Larson wasn’t too keen on Monn back in Loudon, the No. 5 driver made sure to nip the problem in the bud and now the duo can move past it.

Kyle Larson and Tyler Monn have had tremendous success together and there is no reason to believe that will change, as after their feud in New Hampshire they have decided to move on and try to bring the No. 5 back to Victory Lane together several times over the course of the summer.

Kyle Larson on the rivalry with Denny Hamlin: “I would just like a little respect”

Unfortunately, it’s no secret that Denny Hamlin and Kyle Larson compete fiercely against each other. They’re two fiery competitors looking to win every week. They’re also both two of the best drivers in the Cup Series.

While Larson wants to put the recent dispute behind him, he wants respect on the track and not become a bitter rival of Hamlin.

“I think Nashville is really the first time I can show that I’m over it,” Larson said earlier this week via SiriusXM NASCAR Radio“Or about the way I drove. I think I’m ready to move on now, I have no problem at all at the moment. I would like a bit of respect on the race track and a bit more space than I was perhaps given.

“Yeah, I think if we do that, we can get back to racing fairly and challenging each other fairly for wins. … I think we’re the top two teams in the sport right now, so we’ll be competing together for many more wins during races and stuff. So I’ve enjoyed racing against him in the past, we’ve just had a couple of altercations. Like I said, I’m ready to just move on and have fun racing against each other again. Nashville is what it is, and like I said, I’m ready to move on.”

There are no guarantees for the future between Kyle Larson and Denny Hamlin and it will all come down to how these two competitors perform in the remainder of 2024.
