VIDEO: Man jumps over counter and attacks Pinole city employee in police building

(KRON) — A video posted by Pinole police (above) shows a man jumping over a counter in a police building and attacking a city employee. The employee was attacked Tuesday afternoon, police said in a news release.

The attack occurred at about 4:15 p.m. at the Pinole Public Safety Building on Tennant Avenue, the news release said. The male suspect was walking around the reception area while another citizen was being served at the front desk.

About two minutes later, the man approached the reception desk and rang the bell several times, police said. Within seconds, the suspect grabbed the employee by the right arm. She resisted, but the suspect pulled her toward him – preventing her from escaping.

The victim was eventually able to free herself from the suspect’s grasp, but the suspect climbed over the counter and through the window. She ran to the main hallway of the police building, where police officers came to her aid.

Officers arrested the suspect, identified as 65-year-old Chester Victor of San Pablo, at the scene. He was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on charges of burglary, kidnapping, false imprisonment, assault, battery and a misdemeanor warrant out of Solano County.

The investigations are still ongoing.
