Man charged with sexually abusing teenager | Local news

A 43-year-old Ohio man is wanted by local police for the reported sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl.

Ellwood City Police charged Timothy Jason Carmichael of Geneva, Ohio, in connection with the crime, which reportedly occurred multiple times between June 2020 and May 6 of this year at a residence on Loop Street in the Ellwood City Borough.

The teenager, now 17, and her grandmother reported the incident to the police. According to a criminal complaint, the police then filed a complaint with ChildLine.

Police interviewed Carmichael at the police station last month and he gave a statement. In addition to the reported crimes, he told police he would walk around the house naked in the presence of the teenager, the complaint states.

He was released pending arraignment.

In a forensic interview with the Children’s Advocacy Center, the teenager reportedly described to her interviewer that he touched her several times and threatened to kill herself if she told anyone, the report said.

According to the interview, Carmichael is accused of four counts of aggravated sexual assault, five counts of sexual assault of a person under the age of 16, and one count each of seduction of a minor, unauthorized contact with a minor, criminal use of a communication facility and exhibitionism.

There is an arrest warrant against him.

Suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty or convicted by a court.
