Massachusetts Ave Project Mobile Market Kicks Off Season

It will soon be easier to get fresh, affordable food at 14 locations around Buffalo.

The Massachusetts Avenue Project Mobile Market is launching its summer season, which will run from Tuesday through October.

The marketplace accepts many different forms of payment to ensure healthy food is accessible, including SNAP benefits, double the money you spend on food, and Fresh Connect coupons.

“Our mission at the Massachusetts Avenue Project is to foster the growth of a sustainable and equitable community food system,” Karine Amato, director of markets for the Massachusetts Avenue Project, said in a statement. “The impact of the MAP Mobile market in the Buffalo communities we serve has been immense; We are excited to continue to increase access to nutritious food across the city through our market programs.

The organization says the program is critical since 12 percent of Erie County residents are food insecure.
