‘Great dad:’ Stepmom remembers Wellington couple killed in shooting

WELLINGTON, Fla. – Gretchen Froelich said it was terrible.

Froelich, who lives in Washington state, said she received a call from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office saying her stepson and his wife had been shot. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said a neighbor confessed Saturday afternoon to killing Taylor Glenn and Tara Marie Jones over a dispute over a basketball hoop.

“He was a great father and they only cared about their family and the children,” Froelich said Monday. “…She was a full-time mother and was passionately devoted to her family and building a healthy family. She’s all about family.”

She said they were the only people they ever dated after meeting in Florida. Froelich said the two leave behind four children, ages 13 to 7.

“It was terrible,” she said. “It was terrible. Very devastating.”

Froelich said they plan to come to Florida on Tuesday and that Tara Jones’ family will watch the children after they fly in from Connecticut.

She also said she believes a church helps the family, but wasn’t sure about the specific church.

Taylor Jones’ resume shows that he worked at Young and Associates, where he specialized in insurance-related areas, and was promoted to partner after 18 years at the firm.
