Eerie question a girl who died in a horrific badminton accident asked her mother two weeks before her death

A six-year-old girl who died in a bizarre badminton accident asked her mother a sinister question weeks before her death, her father revealed.

Six-year-old Lucy Morgan of New Jersey suffered a brain injury in a horrific accident on June 1 while enjoying a lake vacation in Limerick, Maine, with her parents and three siblings.

The six-year-old had been playing badminton with her ten-year-old brother when the racket suddenly broke and the sharp aluminum shaft pierced her skull, causing a catastrophic brain injury that left her “unconscious” and “unresponsive.” She later died in hospital.

After her death, the child’s father, a pastor, revealed that she had asked her mother an unusual question just two weeks before the strange accident.

Little Lucy Morgan asked her mother Bethany “how she could come to God and be saved,” her father wrote in an obituary, according to the New York Post.

“Bethany explained it to her and offered to pray together, but in her characteristic independence, Lucy wanted to do it herself,” her obituary said.

“She went to her room and prayed to God… Later she kept a diary of it and expressed her love for God in words and pictures,” it continued.

Lucy loved Chick-fil-A, drawing, dancing, soccer, going to church and spending time with her family, the obituary continued. “Lucy’s loving soul touched the hearts of all who knew her,” her father wrote.

“Although her time on Earth was brief, her story has had a profound impact. She will be sorely missed and forever remembered by her family and friends.”

Lucy lived with her parents Bethany and Jesse Morgan along with her three other siblings aged four to ten.

The family had been preparing to return to their home in Stockholm, New Jersey, when the accident occurred in Limerick, Maine, where they had spent a week kayaking and enjoying other outdoor activities.

They had just eaten lunch by the lake when their four young children went into the front yard to play badminton, their father said.

“Bethany and I were just relaxing in the back when we heard screaming. Due to a freak accident involving a racket that broke on the downswing, a sharp piece had penetrated Lucy’s skull while she was sitting on the sidelines, causing a catastrophic injury,” he said.

She was immediately flown by helicopter to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where surgeons removed part of her skull to relieve pressure on her brain.

The six-year-old later suffered a cardiac arrest on the operating table. Doctors managed to resuscitate her but told the family that her chances of recovery were minimal.

She succumbed to her injuries in the early hours of Wednesday, June 5. In the hospital, she was surrounded by her family, who sang her favorite song for the last time.

“This is such a sad, tragic situation,” said Maine State Police. “Our hearts break for the family.”

A GoFundMe campaign to support the family has already raised more than $114,000.

Funeral services for Lucy will be held on June 15 at 11 a.m. at Green Pond Bible Chapel in Rockaway Township.
