3 dead, 3 injured in car crash in Pasadena

A car accident in Pasadena left three people dead and three others in critical condition.

The early morning accident occurred around 7:30 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Foothill Boulevard near Vista Avenue in Pasadena. The victims are reportedly between 17 and 22 years old.

The white Tesla involved in the accident was traveling too fast and the driver lost control of the vehicle. Before coming to a stop, the car went over the curb and struck three utility poles before careening through the corner of a building in the area. The roof of the Tesla was completely sheared off.

“This likely caused the three occupants to be ejected from the rear of the vehicle,” Lt. Anthony Russo of the Pasadena Police Department told KTLA 5’s Sara Welch. “Three occupants remained in the car when it came to rest several hundred feet west of the impact with the building.”

A witness who was near the scene of the accident described the horrific scene.

“It was a bit like a sci-fi movie, as I was walking down the street I saw the bodies lying around,” Bill Otto said. “They asked for help, I didn’t know who to help first, everyone was unwell.”

The violent impact left several pieces of debris in the area and several homes in the area lost power due to the crash.

“We heard a loud bang,” said witness Robert Phillips. “And then the power flashed and then went out.”

Investigators were still on site early Saturday evening. No further information was given about the identities of the victims.
