Man hit and killed by car on Indianapolis’ north side

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Metro Police Department is investigating a traffic crash that struck and killed a man late Monday night.

According to IMPD, officers received a call before 10:30 p.m. that a person had been hit at the intersection of Michigan Road and Depauw Boulevard. According to IMPD, the driver called them and said, “I know I hit someone, but I can’t find the person I hit.”


When officers arrived, they were initially unable to locate the victim. Shortly thereafter, they found an adult male in the tall weeds across the street from where the vehicle struck him.

According to police, the victim and a friend were walking on Michigan Road when the victim was struck by a pickup truck. According to IMPD, the victim was wearing all dark clothing and the driver told police they did not see the victim until after the accident.

The victim’s death was confirmed at the crime scene.

The driver and the friend who accompanied the victim are cooperating with investigators.

The driver is tested for drunkenness.
